CONTACT LENSES

Some of our patients at Optiko Eyewear prefer contact lenses over standard glasses, not only because contact lenses provide a glasses-free appearance while correcting vision, but also because they allow for easy wearing of non-prescription sunglasses and goggles and provide the convenience of not having to worry about misplacing your glasses. In fact, for those patients who have astigmatism or a very strong prescription, contact lenses may provide higher quality vision correction than that provided by glasses. Modern methods even allow us to offer bifocal contact lenses to replace bifocal glasses.

Contact Lenses

Soft Contact Lenses provide the greatest comfort and ease of wear, but must be replaced monthly, weekly or daily, depending on the type you choose. Many athletes prefer to use soft contact lenses because they fit closer to the eye and are less likely to be dislodged by rough play. Soft contact lenses provide vision correction for most prescriptions, including astigmatism.

Gas-Permeable (GP) Lenses

Gas-Permeable (GP) Lenses are constructed from moderately flexible plastics, making them more durable and easier to handle than soft contact lenses. GP lenses provide sharp vision correction and are appropriate for correcting most vision problems. However, GP lenses require a longer adaptation period than soft contact lenses, as well as consistent wear in order to maintain adaptation.

Multifocal Lenses

Bifocal or multifocal contact lenses are available in both soft and GP designs. Multifocal lenses provide both near and distant vision correction, just like standard bifocal glasses.

Colour Contact Lenses

Colour contact lenses allow the wearer to enhance their natural eye colour, or even change it completely. Offered in a variety of colours for both light and dark eyes, colour contact lenses are fun and provide a distinctive look.
